Record batch of drugs seized at Sofia airport

Employees of the Department for Combating Drug Trafficking in Bulgaria seized a record batch of narcotic medicines at the airport of the Bulgarian capital Sofia.

According to preliminary data, a batch of a potent substance with a total weight of 352 kg was delivered from India in transit through Germany. The final buyer of the goods was one of the Bulgarian private firms. Permission to import the drug and its manufacturer's license was not granted.

According to independent experts, the value of seized narcotic drugs on the black market may exceed $ 10 million. An investigation is underway.

The current Bulgarian government has announced the implementation of a new program to combat drug smuggling.
