High-speed Internet appeared at Yoshkar-Ola airport
The press service of the mobile operator MegaFon reports an increase in the speed of the LTE mobile Internet network on the territory of Yoshkar-Ola airport to 100 Mbit/s.
As noted in the message, MegaFon has launched a new base station in the Airport village. As a result, it was possible to speed up data transmission and expand the network capacity not only for passengers and employees of the transport hub, but also for residents of the village and the nearest settlements, as well as neighboring suburban areas.
"Yoshkar-Ola Airport is developing and becoming more attractive for tourists. The construction of a new airport complex is already underway, the reconstruction of the runway is planned. Modern telecom infrastructure also makes air services more comfortable. Now travelers can use the necessary services upon arrival and while waiting for a flight — call a taxi, complete work issues, communicate with loved ones via video link," said Alexey Koshkin, director of MegaFon in Mari El.
The demand for communication services in waiting rooms is confirmed by the operator's analysts. In the last month alone, departing and arriving passengers have used about 3 terabytes of data. This volume would be enough to watch a movie in HD quality 1.5 thousand times. In addition, at the airport they like to communicate by phone — MegaFon subscribers spoke for more than 20 thousand minutes from December 16 to January 16.
Most often, tourists and business travelers from St. Petersburg, Kirov, Vologda regions, the Republic of Tatarstan and Moscow went online. They mostly watched videos on social networks and corresponded in messengers. A significant amount of traffic fell on online cinemas.
