Construction of the new Irkutsk airport will begin in 2028

Construction of a new Irkutsk airport near the village of Pozdnyakov will begin in 2028, the work will take three years.

According to the press service of the government of the Irkutsk region, the governor of the region Igor Kobzev discussed with the head of the Federal Air Transport Agency Alexander Neradko the construction of a new Irkutsk airport.

The Governor also noted that all this time — before the start of construction and during its process — it is important to maintain the runway of the existing Irkutsk airport in proper operational condition.
