4. After the discovery of oil reserves in the North Sea, Aberdeen became one of the largest heliports in the United Kingdom for helicopter communication with oil rigs.

5. In order to maintain silence, Aberdeen Airport did not operate at night until March 2005. Currently, this ban has been lifted despite complaints from local residents.
