1. Abadan Airport is located in the city of the same name in Iran near the Iran-Iraq border with access to the Persian Gulf.
2. The airport mainly serves domestic flights to Tehran, Mashhad, Tabriz, Shiraz, Isfahan.
3. During World War II, Abadan Airport was used as a logistics hub for lend-lease aircraft supplied by the United States to the Soviet Union.
4. On September 10, 1958, during an emergency landing at Abadan Airport, a passenger liner en route from Indonesia to the Netherlands crashed. Everyone on board was killed.
