Smugglers detained in Vnukovo

A group of six smugglers tried to take out of Russia 225 kg of gold bullion worth about 800 million rubles.

The accomplices were divided into two groups, the first of which planned to fly from Moscow's Vnukovo airport to the capital of Armenia, Yerevan, without being subjected to customs inspection. The second group of smugglers was heading to Dubai, under the guise of tourists, they passed customs procedures with empty hand luggage. And after the checks, the accomplices met in the neutral zone of Vnukovo, where they exchanged bags and boarded the plane. There they were detained by customs officers.

As a result, three criminal cases of smuggling were initiated under Article 226.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The attackers face up to five to ten years in prison.
