Lufthansa cancels flights due to staff shortages

German airline Lufthansa announced the cancellation of about 3,100 summer flights due to staff shortages due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

So, in July and August 2022, 2,200 flights will not take place, both inside Germany and throughout Europe. 900 flights have already been cancelled in June.

The Bloomberg news agency notes that EU airlines are unable to cope with the tourist flow, which has increased after the abolition of COVID restrictions. Despite the fact that the new strains of the virus are less dangerous than the previous ones, the incidence remains high, and air carriers do not have enough employees.

The situation in the aviation industry is aggravated by labor conflicts, such as Ryanair and British Airways, where employees are on strike and demanding higher salaries amid rising inflation.
