Day of Liberation of Belgrade

On October 20, Serbia celebrates a national holiday - the Day of Liberation of Belgrade.

Belgrade, the capital of modern Serbia, was liberated by the joint efforts of Soviet troops and the Yugoslav army from the Nazi invaders and their allies during the World War II.

Heavy fighting for Belgrade lasted from September 28 to October 22, 1944, and in fact Belgrade was liberated on October 20, 1944.

Today, direct flights from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Sochi and Kazan can be sent to the capital of Serbia by Air Serbia.
