Air communication with Myanmar may be opened in Russia

The Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Myanmar Nikolay Listopadov expressed the opinion that the Asian state can become a tourist novelty for Russians, including due to the appearance of direct flights between the countries.

The Ambassador called Myanmar an almost unknown country for Russian travelers. He noted that the tourist flow from the Russian Federation gradually increased before the pandemic and reached about 5,000 people a year.

At the moment, Russia and Myanmar are discussing the establishment of direct flights, at the first stage — charter flights. Since July 2022, Myanmar has introduced a visa—free regime for citizens of the Russian Federation - it will operate for one year as an experiment. This will also be an incentive for the growth of the tourist flow.

Myanmar has developed a beach holiday on the shores of the Indian Ocean, there are a number of interesting historical attractions and picturesque nature.
